Air Source Heat Pumps

An air source heat pump works like an air conditioner in reverse. It removes latent heat from outdoor air, upgrades it via a compressor, then transfers it to your heating system and/or domestic hot water. It will do this very efficiently as typically you will receive 3 units of heat for every unit of input energy ( COP 1:3)

An Air Source Heat Pump can be preferable to ground source when there’s no land available for ground collectors and you don’t want to go to the expense of drilling for boreholes. Air source heat pumps are cheaper to install ( no groundworks) and still retain high efficiencies compared to traditional heating systems
